In a special session on Monday (19), at 2:30 pm, in the room 29 (ST 09) of the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center, in Brasilia, the director general of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, together with the vice president of UN-Water (UN Water, in free translation), Joakim Harlin, the executive director of the UN Environment, Erik Solheim, and the Minister of the Department of Water and Sanitation of the Government of South Africa, Gugile Nkwinti, open the event.
In sequence, the coordinator and director of the World Water Resources Assessment Program (WWAP, in the acronym in english) from UNESCO, Stefan Uhlenbrook, will present the main conclusions of the report and its main messages..
After submission of the document, the program coordinator of the Organization for Indigenous Communities, Cintya Evelina Martínez Martínez, and the executive coordinator of the Platform for Indigenous Women and Youth of El Chaco, Estela Mari Álvarez Torres, will give an inspiring speech on the topic.
A panel discussion entitled “Learning and working with nature” is also planned.: achieve water security through ecosystem-based solutions". The panel will be facilitated by the head of the United Nations Development Program's water and ocean governance program (UNDP), Andrew Hudson.
The discussions have the collaboration of the Director General of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Claudia sadoff, Director-General of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (UICN), Inger Andersen, the executive director and president of the Global Environment Facility (FMAME), Naoko Ishii, and the senior vice chancellor of the United Nations University (ONE), Taikan Oki.
