Despite all the technological development, Japan has to face some natural problems. The lack of space to grow food is one such example. To get around this snag, in tokyo, architect Yoshimi Kono designed an office building that also doubles as an urban farm.
Urban vertical farm prototypes have been developed and, considering urban growth projections, these farms will probably be part of our future.
at the Pasona office, the future has arrived. This Tokyo employment agency dedicated 20% of your area for growing vegetables, becoming Japan's largest urban farm.
farming 100% organic
Everything that is grown on this urban farm is organic.. are more than 200 species of fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, the company maintains 300 square meters of area for rice cultivation.
The video below shows how this harmony between plantations and office rooms works..

The gardens contain both hydroponic and land-grown vegetables, and they need very precise climate control. This often means keeping these spaces warmer than the levels considered comfortable for offices., and this is the most unpleasant feature of the building..
Vegetables grown in the office are not just for food for employees in Pasona. Segundo Kono, responsible for the project, this new type of office is expected to inspire big city dwellers to reconsider agriculture and, possibly, revitalize some rural areas.
At least, the project looks set to inspire other offices to embark on this new design trend.
