Reverse logistics management in Brazil enters a new stage. in september 2026, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA) established the National Reverse Logistics System (Sisrev BR), integrated into the National Information System on Solid Waste Management (The nerve).
Created by GM/MMA Ordinance no. 1.778, from 16 september 2026, the system was developed to centralize information, monitor results and expand the traceability of reverse logistics systems in the country. The novelty reinforces a trend that has been gaining ground in environmental management: in addition to correctly disposing of waste, Companies increasingly need to demonstrate and prove the results achieved.
What is Sisrev-BR?
Sisrev-BR will function as a module integrated with Sinir for the registration of reverse logistics systems, results report, consolidation and monitoring of information.
The tool includes reverse logistics systems implemented by both collective and individual models, involving manufacturers, importers, dealers, traders and others responsible for complying with obligations set out in legislation.
One of the highlights is the possibility of using the recorded information for environmental inspection and control activities..
In practice, This represents an important change: data that was previously distributed among different documents, systems and agents become part of a national information and monitoring structure.
More traceability, more responsibility
The Ordinance also establishes mechanisms for integration between Sisrev-BR and electronic platforms used by results checkers.
This integration seeks to standardize the exchange of information and facilitate the consolidation of recovery results and environmentally appropriate final disposal of waste..
Another relevant point involves the traceability of recycled content. In systems subject to obligations to incorporate recycled materials, information such as masses of recycled inputs should be recorded, suppliers and movement of materials along the recycling chain.
Thereby, data quality now plays an even more important role. It is not enough to inform that a certain material was recycled: It is necessary to have information capable of supporting and demonstrating this result.
What are the next deadlines?
The new structure also establishes a clearer routine for reporting information.
Reverse logistics systems must register with Sisrev-BR between January 1st and 31 May of each year. Annual results reports must be submitted by 30 July, containing information relating to the previous year and applicable supporting documents.
In parallel, the topic continues to advance. In 29 september 2026, a public consultation began to regulate the National Reverse Logistics Program (PNLR), coordinated by MMA. Contributions can be sent up to 28 of October. The program seeks to coordinate and integrate the different reverse logistics systems in the country.
How companies can prepare?
The implementation of Sisrev-BR reinforces a need that is already part of the environmental management of organizations: to know, control and document all steps related to waste generated in its activities.
In this context, preparation goes beyond filling out systems. It is important to maintain up-to-date information about the waste generated, its classification and quantification, ways of storage, movement, destination and associated documentation. The organization of this data also contributes to monitoring indicators and proving the results presented to environmental agencies.
It is in this scenario that Waste Management gains even more relevance. Structured management allows you to identify generation points, assess waste streams, verify storage and disposal methods and monitor documentation and environmental obligations applicable to each project.
Waste management as a compliance strategy
With the evolution of traceability and monitoring mechanisms, companies that keep their processes and information organized are more prepared to respond to new regulatory demands.
biO3 offers Waste Management services for the agricultural sectors, industry and retail, working from mapping processes and identifying waste generated to storage assessment, environmental destination and documentation. The consultancy also assists in structuring and monitoring instruments such as PGRS, PGRSS, CADRI and Waste Inventory, according to the needs and characteristics of each enterprise.
With the advancement of Sisrev-BR and other initiatives related to reverse logistics, structuring waste management today can be an important step so that companies are prepared for the demands of tomorrow.
