Brazilian companies launch digital campaign on global goals

Signatory companies of the Brazil Network of the Global Compact, linked to United Nations Development Program (UNDP) No brazil, launched this week, through its Engagement and Communication Committee (CHECK), unprecedented action to strengthen the implementation of global goals (ODS) signed in the agenda 2030.

Entitled "ODS and Business Sector Campaign", the initiative involves more than 80 companies and organizations. Until March 2019, the pages on the participants' social networks will disseminate messages and data about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

To strengthen the role of the private sector in achieving the Agenda's goals 2030, companies and organizations participating in the campaign will also emphasize, through Facebook, Twitter e Linkedin, how your actions dialogue with the SDGs.

The publications will also address the challenges of the private sector in implementing the Agenda 2030, as well as present to the public the sustainable development opportunities that companies can generate from actions that dialogue with economic growth, social inclusion and protection of the planet.

"The engagement with the campaign and the willingness of companies and organizations that are part of our network show the maturity of the Brazilian private sector and the commitment to sustainable development, in line with the 2030 Agenda”, said the executive secretary of Rede Brasil of the Global Compact, Carlo Pereira.

In the assessment of the co-chair of the UN System Advisory Group for the Agenda 2030 and senior advisor to UNDP, Haroldo Machado Filho, companies play a central role in achieving the SDGs, mainly in the construction of lasting and sustainable solutions.

"The engagement of the private sector is of fundamental importance to accelerate the fulfillment of such an ambitious agenda. There is a growing thought that the interface between business and social and environmental problems has a great potential for synergies, particularly in a long-term perspective.”

“Much of the innovation in the world today is to explore this interface, and a number of fantastic products and services are coming up., which shows that it is possible to generate profit and, at the same time, reduce the use of natural resources and generate new opportunities for people.”
